Types of Therapy

At the Central Oregon Psychology Center, we offer the following types of counseling for children, teens, adults, and families. We offer counseling services for children, age 5 or older, teens, and adults.

CBT for Sleep Problems and Insomnia (CBT-I)

CBT-I is an empirically based treatment for both short-term insomnia and chronic insomnia. It involves restructuring the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are contributing to insomnia.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is appropriate for Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Adjustment issues, mild depressive symptoms, and anger/behavioral concerns.

Exposure Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Used to treat Specific Phobias (such as needles/shots), intrusive thoughts, panic attacks, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

Habit Reversal Training and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT)

This treatment is used with tic disorders, Tourette's, and Trichotillomania.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is an empirically based treatment approach that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to improve mental health.

Parts Work Therapy

This approach is designed to help patients recognize and give voice to the different parts of themselves that can arise from trauma.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

MBCT is a type of psychotherapy that involves a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, breathing exercises, and the cultivation of a present-oriented and non-judgmental attitude.

Somatic Awareness Therapy

This approach combines mind-body exercises with talk therapy to help release the pent-up tension that negatively affects a patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
